“十一小长假”要去哪里玩儿？
大家都知道“十一小长假”
又被称为“十一黄金周”
那这个“黄金周”到底是什么意思呢？
它用英文又该如何表达？
黄金周
"黄金周"是从日本舶来的休假方式。1999年公布的《全国年节及纪念日放假办法》，决定将春节、"五一""十一"的休息时间与前后的双休日拼接，从而形成7天的长假。
相对于其它公休假期，"黄金周"又被称为"长假"，通常冠以节日名称，分别为"五一黄金周"、"国庆黄金周"。

国外有家叫NationalToday的网站，上面记载了各个国家和地区的节假日，历史大事件等等，这个网站上面是这样介绍中国的国庆节的：
National Day of China is celebrated in China every year on October 1. It is a public holiday and the celebrations are held over three days. Since most people get holidays in the middle of the week, the week of National Day of China is also known as “Golden Week.” It is also the second-largest holiday period in China.
中国每年10月1日庆祝国庆节。这是一个公共假日，庆祝活动持续三天以上。由于大多数人在一周的中间放假，所以中国的国庆周也被称为“黄金周”。这也是中国第二大节假日。
大家可以看到，在这里，“黄金周”用的是“Golden Week”，“golden”在这里作为形容词有“special, successful, or giving someone an advantage”的含义。
举个例子：
He's got a place at university which gives him a golden opportunity to do research in the subject which interests him.
他在大学里得到一个席位，这对他来说是一个黄金机会，让他能够继续做他感兴趣的学科研究。
小长假
在英文中有“short holiday”和“long vacation”这种说法，那咱们说的“十一小长假”中的“小长假”用英文该咋说呢？
mini-break
在英文当中，可以用“mini-break”来表示小长假，它指的是“a very short holiday”，例如咱们的清明、五一等这种两三天的假期就可以叫做“mini-break”。
举个例子：
Winners of the competition will win a three-night mini-break in Paris.
比赛获胜者将赢得在巴黎举行的三晚小长假。
long weekend
英文中还有一个概念叫做“long weekend”，长周末，指的是和周六日连在一起、至少多出来一天的小长假，“Saturday and Sunday with at least one extra day added, either Friday or Monday”。
从英文释义中大家就可以看出来，“long weekend”强调的是“包括周六日”这个概念哦~
举个例子：
We spent a long weekend with my parents.
这个长周末我们跟父母在一起。
public holiday
“public holiday”意思为“公共假期”，“法定假日”“公休”。指的是几乎所有人都可以在这个假日不去工作或者不去上学，“a day when almost everyone in a particular country does not have to go to work or school”。
举个例子：
New Year's Day is a public holiday in many countries.
在很多国家，跨年都是一个公共假期。
